Salary Guide

Indicative monthly pay ranges across common roles in Cameroon — to help you set realistic expectations.

These figures are indicative only — not a guarantee. They are approximate gross monthly ranges in XAF based on general market knowledge, not verified survey data. Actual pay varies a lot by employer, city, your experience and qualifications, company size, and how you negotiate. Use these ranges to orient your expectations and prepare for a conversation — never as a fixed salary you should expect.
Levels Entry — junior / starting out (0–2 yrs) Mid — experienced (3–6 yrs) Senior — lead / specialist (7+ yrs)

What affects your pay

Two people with the same job title can earn very differently. Here is what moves the number.

Experience

More years of relevant, proven experience usually means a higher offer — and a stronger position to negotiate from.

Qualifications

Degrees, professional certifications and specialised skills can lift you toward the top of a range, especially in technical fields.

City

Pay often runs higher in Douala and Yaoundé than in smaller towns, partly reflecting cost of living and employer concentration.

Company size

Large firms, multinationals and NGOs typically pay more than small businesses or start-ups for the same role.

Sector demand

When a skill is scarce and in demand — like software or specialised engineering — salaries climb to attract talent.

Language skills

Being comfortable in both French and English (FR/EN) is a real advantage and can widen the roles and employers open to you.

Negotiation matters too

The same job can pay differently depending on how you discuss it. Knowing a realistic range, presenting your value clearly and staying confident all help. Prepare before you talk numbers.
